Liverpool student reveals the issues he has with his £151-a-WEEK accommodation

A Liverpool student has revealed the substandard state of his accommodation in a viral TikTok video. 

TikTok user Mrlandi shared a clip highlighting the issues with his £151-a-week flat at the Unite Grand Central development in the city centre, including a leaking roof, ice blocks in the fridge and a hole in the wall. 

The tongue-in-cheek video has been viewed more than 4million times and racked up 6,500 comments in the three weeks since it was posted.

The video, which is set to soothing music, starts with the undergraduate welcoming the camera into the flat and first highlights the hole in the roof that leads to a leak ‘every time it rains’. 

There are recycling bins placed underneath the roof to collect the rainwater. 

The student then showcases the hole in the wall ‘that’s as big as his head’ and a bucket full of an unidentified substance that is so rancid the students don’t want to touch it.

Elsewhere the video shows how one of the kitchen drawers doesn’t work, with the handle and front panel coming away from the rest of the drawer with a slight tug. 

In the tongue-in-cheek voiceover, the student says: ‘The drawer that opens without the drawer.’

The video was met with delight by fellow TikTok users, including previous Unite Grand Central residents who said they had the same curtains when they stayed in the accommodation more than a decade ago. 

One posted: ‘The water feature at the start really set off the rest of the video for a nice tour.’

Another wrote: ‘Liverpool Grand Central? I’d recognise those curtains anywhere.’

A third added: ‘What is it with every university halls having those curtains.’
