Livvy Dunne reveals why she gets more nervous to watch MLB boyfriend Paul Skenes pitch for Pittsburgh Pirates than for her own LSU events

Livvy Dunne revealed just how nervous she gets while watching her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, step up to the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In fact, the LSU gymnast admitted she finds her own events less nerve-wracking than cheering on her man, who is one of baseball’s greatest pitching prospects.

‘I get more nervous watching Paul because it’s just different when you’re not doing it and you’re not in control,’ Dunne said in a video posted by Bleacher Report Tuesday.

‘But I am confident in his abilities and I kinda channel those nerves into excitement for him,’ she went on.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model laughed when she was asked if Skenes also gets more nervous for her than he does ahead of his own games.

‘I honestly don’t know anyone that thinks the way he does. I genuinely don’t know what he would say,’ she responded.

The two began dating while studying together at LSU in Baton Rouge, and made their romance public in 2023.

Dunne has been a frequent presence at Pirates games since Skenes was called up to the big leagues last month, most recently showing her support when they took on the star-studded Dodgers.

The 21-year-old model shared a snap of her all-black outfit, featuring a bodysuit, jeans, and a Pirates cap, before Skenes’ showdown against Shohei Ohtani.

She watched the reigning AL MVP strike out against Skenes with a 100mph fastball in the first inning.

Her beau ended up striking out seven more at-bats over five innings, as the Pirates defeated the Dodgers, 10-6, at home.

‘His stuff… that first at-bat… was really good,’ Ohtani said of Skenes. ‘I couldn’t put together good swings, but overall just really good stuff.’

Of course, Dunne was also on hand for Skenes’ MLB debut in Pittsburgh last month.

‘I had some nerves creep in at first, but I’ve kind of channeled it into excitement rather than nerves, and I just have the most confidence in him ever,’ she told Sportsnet Pittsburgh ahead of the No. 1 overall prospect’s first game.

‘I just trust in him, and what he’s put in, and I’m just so excited,’ she went on.

‘It’s amazing, the support here is awesome. Pittsburgh has been so welcoming. Just seeing people wearing Air Force stuff, LSU stuff, Skenes jerseys.’

The rookie has become an immediate sensation for long-suffering Pirates fans this season, as a crowd of 23,162 showed up for a mid-week game last month – more than double what the club had been averaging.
