Liz Hurley angry after police call off investigation into model nephew Miles Hurley London stabbing

Liz Hurley (pictured with her model nephew Miles) is furious at police for dropping the investigation into his stabbing

Liz Hurley has blasted police for dropping their investigation into the stabbing of her model nephew.

Miles Hurley, 21, and his friend were stabbed in the back in a random attack by a stranger in Nine Elms, south west London on March 8.

The Dolce & Gabbana model is believed to have lost four pints of blood in the attack, which saw his aunt, 53, rush home from a trip to the US to be with him.

But she has this week said she is ‘annoyed but not surprised’ police are not continuing their investigation over a lack of evidence.

Detectives claim there is not enough quality DNA evidence from the street where the pair were attacked to build a full profile of a suspect.

A source close to the actress told The Sun: ‘The family were warned the DNA was not of sufficient quality to get a full profile. Liz’s concern was that these scumbags who tried to murder Miles are still out there, and will strike again.

‘Miles has spent a lot of time recovering and still has nightmares — so to be told there is nothing police can do is upsetting for everyone.’

At the time, Hurley tweeted: ‘My 21-year-old nephew was repeatedly stabbed in a brutal attack in London.

‘The police and hospital are being fantastic. Thank you for all your messages. It is an appalling time for him and our family.’

She added: ‘He lost more than four pints of blood.

‘A policeman was patrolling close by and administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.

‘The deepest wound just missed severing his spine. By some miracle, no vital organs were damaged. We are praying that these animals are caught before they maim, or even kill, someone else. These are sad days.’

According to the newspaper, Miles, who she is very close to, has been ‘lying low’ at his mother Kate Curran’s Hertfordshire home since the attack.

Liz and Miles Hurley have not yet responded to requests for comment.

A Met Police spokesman told MailOnline: ‘Police launched an investigation following a stabbing in Ascalon Street on Thursday, 8 March 2018.

‘Despite media appeals, CCTV analysis, ANPR and witness enquiries and forensic analysis, unfortunately officers have been unable to identify a suspect/s for this incident and the case was closed on Thursday, 4 October pending any further investigative opportunities.

‘Both of the victims, two 21 year old males, have been informed of this development.

‘There have been no arrests. Though officers had found DNA at the scene, it was not available in a sufficient enough level to be compared against the national police DNA database and accurately identify any match.

‘Should any further investigative opportunities come to light, they will be assessed.

‘Anyone with information regarding the incident that may assist police is asked to contact Wandsworth CID on 101 quoting ref: CAD 7495/8March or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’
