Locked-down Sydneysiders WILL get cash payout coronavirus

Locked-down Sydneysiders WILL get cash payout: Workers left out of a job due to Covid restrictions can claim up to $500 a week – but not everyone can apply

  • Workers who lost shifts as result of lockdown could be eligible for payments
  • People unable to work from home or travel to work can claim up to $500 weekly
  • New restrictions apply from 11.59pm on Friday night for certain Sydney LGAs

Workers who have lost shifts as a result of Sydney’s snap week-long lockdown will be eligible for payments of up to $500 weekly – if they meet certain criteria.

Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly confirmed Friday evening that workers from the seven-effected local government areas will be entitled to Commonwealth support.

People will only be able to receive the payments if they can’t work from home and can’t travel to work as a result of the latest restrictions.

The City of Sydney, Waverley, Woollahra, Bayside, Canada Bay, Inner West and Randwick have been declared Covid hotspots for the purposes of Commonwealth support until July 2 this year.

More to come.
