And at Sunday night’s Logie Awards, rival breakfast hosts Samantha Armytage and Deborah Knight appeared to have a tense confrontation on the red carpet.
Sunrise anchor Sam, 42, had a face of fury as she spoke to Today presenter Deborah, 46, in what seemed to be a rather animated exchange.

Looking stern, the Weight Watchers ambassador glared at her Channel Seven rival, seemingly unaware a photographer was nearby.
While it’s unclear what they were discussing, things seemed heated as Sam gestured animatedly with her hands and furrowed her brow.
Earlier that night, Sam had flaunted her recent 10kg weight loss on the red carpet in a glamorous red gown by Carla Zampatti.

The slim-fitting frock featured a choker neckline and one-shoulder design, and she accessorised with an envelope clutch bag.
For makeup, Samantha highlighted her complexion with smokey eyeshadow and a swipe of peach-hued blush.
Meanwhile, Deborah sadly topped many publications’ worst-dressed lists by wearing a purple floor-length dress with unusual oversized sleeves.

For years, Today and Sunrise have been rivals in the breakfast TV ratings battle.
But recently there hasn’t been much competition as Sunrise soars ahead while Today’s viewership continues to fall.
The Today show’s decline began when former host Karl Stefanovic left his wife-of-21-years, Cassandra Thorburn, in mid 2016 and began dating a younger woman.
Following Karl’s dismissal in late 2018 and a on-air reshuffle, the program’s ratings have continued to fall – much to the disappointment of Nine executives.
