London Fashion Week’s hottest tickets

When it kicks off this Friday, Fashion Week will be creating its usual fizz. But which catwalk shows are the fashionistas desperate to see? Miranda Thompson reports

The label: Molly Goddard

The buzz It’s been four years since Molly Goddard made her fun-filled LFW debut, and her reputation as the must-watch young brand shows no signs of waning. Known for statement dresses in tulle and taffeta (Rihanna attended last year’s Women’s March in one of her frothy confections), her shows are kooky and humorous – one was themed around a life-drawing class while another featured sandwich-making.

The label: Halpern

The buzz The winner of last year’s British Emerging Talent gong at the Fashion Awards, London-based American Michael Halpern debuted his sequin-spangled first collection last September – and the glittering press it received has made his forthcoming show one of the most hyped of the week. If it’s anything like its predecessor, expect lashings of disco-inspired minidresses, jumpsuits and flared trousers.

The label: Burberry

The buzz This LFW marks the end of the tenure of Christopher Bailey as the brand’s chief creative officer. During his 17 years at the helm, he’s been credited with transforming the luxury British label into a global powerhouse and for popularising the concept of ‘see now, buy now’, allowing shoppers to purchase items online straight after the shows (which were also among the first to be live-streamed worldwide). Expect a final flourish from one of LFW’s best-loved blockbuster events.

The label: Rejina Pyo

The buzz The Korean-born designer, a former assistant to Roksanda Ilincic, showed her first catwalk collection last September to much fanfare. Not only did her structured, voluminous pieces immediately mark her out as a fashion favourite, but she garnered acclaim for her diverse catwalk casting, featuring models of all ages and ethnicities.

The label: JW Anderson

The buzz The multi-award-winning Jonathan Anderson added British Designer of the Year (womenswear) to the list following last year’s Fashion Awards, and his label continues to be one of the UK’s most innovative. This LFW he is combining his men’s and women’s collections in a single show, reflecting the increasingly unisex approach to fashion that many brands, including Burberry and Gucci, are adopting.

Our pick of the presentations

Located in intimate surroundings that allow fashionistas to get closer to new-season pieces, invitation-only presentations are increasingly popular among designers. Here are this season’s must-see three.

Dorateymur

The label of shoe designer Dora Teymur is one to watch. The Turkish-born, London-based designer’s handcrafted footwear has earned him an A-list following including Erin O’Connor (above right) and Solange Knowles. Thanks to his design flourishes – such as his A/W 17 elephant-shaped heels – the latest drop is sure to become ubiquitous on Instagram.

Lulu Guinness

The renowned British accessories designer (above left) is to show for the first time in her brand’s 28-year history this LFW. Devotees such as Poppy Delevingne (above right) can look forward to an ‘energetic presentation’.

Shrimps

Hannah Weiland’s playful faux-fur coats were an instant hit with the likes of Lily Allen after the label’s 2013 launch. It now offers other clothing, and its Insta-worthy showcases (above) are a LFW must-see.
