Four people have been arrested after a man left fighting for his life after being stabbed ‘multiple times’ in a broad daylight attack in south London.

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital where his condition was initially thought to be critical following the incident on Friday afternoon.

The man’s injuries have been described by police as not life-threatening.

The incident is the latest in a wave of stabbings to hit the capital with recent figures showing knife crimes in London are at a 10 year high.

Official statistics form the Met Police recorded 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April this year. 

A spokesperson for Metropolitan police said: ‘Police were called to reports of a group of males fighting at 1717hrs on Friday, 24 August at Roupell Road, SW2.

‘Officers attended. At the scene a 23-year-old male was found suffering a number of stab wounds. 

‘He was taken to a south London hospital where his condition was initially deemed to be critical but has now been described as not life-threatening.

‘Four males were arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of an offensive weapon and were all taken to a south London police station. 

‘Lambeth Police investigate. A knife has been recovered by officers.’
