London Mayor Sadiq Khan compares Donald Trump to an 11-year-old child

Sadiq Khan says Donald Trump is ‘behaving like an 11-year old boy’ as he joins Corbyn in attacking the President

Sadiq Khan joined Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in attacking Donald Trump today by comparing the U.S. President to an 11-year-old child.

The Mayor of London also claimed he was not offended by a tweet from the 72-year-old POTUS in which he called Mr Khan a ‘stone cold loser’ as he touched down in the capital for a three-day visit.

He told CNN: ‘This is the sort of behavior I would expect from an 11 year old. But it’s for him to decide how he behaves.

‘It’s not for me to respond in a like manner. I think it’s beneath me to do childish tweets and name-calling.’

Mr Khan went on to criticise the president for ‘amplifying’ tweets from racists, and separating children from their parents at the border.

His comments come after Mr Corbyn delivered a speech to anti-Trump protesters in Trafalgar Square in central London.

The 70-year-old politician sprung to Mr Khan’s defence in front of a few tens of thousands of activists, and suggested the President had ‘created a greater sense of hate and hatred’.

Around 30,000 people attended today’s protests – a much smaller number than expected by organisers, who blamed a ‘working Tuesday’ for the lower number.

Mr Corbyn raged at the US President in a frothing speech at Parliament Square – condemning him for treating refugees like ‘enemies’, ignoring climate change, and trying to exploit the NHS for profit.

Earlier today, Mr Trump said in a joint press conference with Mrs May that the Labour leader had asked for a meeting, but he had refused, describing Mr Corbyn as a ‘somewhat negative force’.

Mr Khan and Mr Trump have been locked in a war of words for a number of years now.

In 2017, Mr Trump criticised Mr Khan’s response to the Borough Market terrorist attack, saying: ‘Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his “no reason to be alarmed” statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!’

Shortly after that, Mr Khan called for Mr Trump’s visit to the UK to be cancelled, saying his policies ‘go against everything we stand for’.

When the visit went ahead last year, Mr Khan allowed a controversial 20ft ‘Baby Trump’ blimp to be flown over the city – which Mr Trump said made him feel ‘unwelcome’.
