Loris Karius still messages Jurgen Klopp and keeps in contact with Liverpool every week

Loris Karius still messages Jurgen Klopp and keeps in contact with Liverpool every week while on loan with Besiktas… but he remains coy on Reds future having not played for the club in TWO years

  • Loris Karius has spent the last two seasons on loan at Besiktas from Liverpool
  • The keeper has not played for the Reds since the 2018 Champions League final
  • German stopper made two high profile errors in 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid
  • But he still has a contract at Anfield that expires at the end of next season

Loris Karius is uncertain over his Liverpool future but insists he is no rush to depart this summer despite becoming a forgotten man at the club.

Karius has spent the last two seasons on loan at Besiktas having been usurped from his first team-spot by Allison following the Brazilian keeper’s arrival for £72million in the summer of 2018.

The German keeper has not played a first team game for the Reds since then following two high profile errors that led to Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in that year’s Champions League final.

Should he return from his Besiktas loan this summer, he could be as far down as third-choice in the pecking order at Anfield, with Adrian having become a firmly established back-up to Allison after arriving on a free transfer this summer.

Karius remains coy over his future but admits he is keeping weekly contact with the Reds where his contract expires next summer.

‘I don’t get involved in speculation. The fact is I have a contract at Liverpool until 2022, he told Bild.

‘At the moment I’m just concentrating on the season at Besiktas. It’s far too early to say anything about the summer, especially at the moment with no one knowing what exactly will happen because of coronavirus.

‘I mainly message the goalkeeping coach John Achterberg – almost every week. He’s my first point of contact.

‘But now and then I also message Jurgen Klopp, I’m in touch with everyone. I’ve never been out of it.’
