‘Things people think about on their death bed – they didn’t live the life they wanted, they lived according to other people and what people expected of them,’ she said.

‘All you have to do is find a few minutes a day and say: “am I doing what I want to do” and “how can I change things if this isn’t the case”.

‘It’s about not going with the flow and just allowing your life to unfold. You don’t want to wake up 20 years later and think: “What the hell happened?”

‘You have to ask yourself and make different choices everyday.’

The entrepreneur – who appeared on the show to promote her new book Love You – said it was important for women to find time to invest in themselves.

‘How we take care of ourselves and how we eat, and how we move and what we think about ourselves should be an all round year thing,’ she said.

‘It’s about changing your priorities and making move, nourish and believe something you think about every single day.’

The 52-year-old – who has been happily married for 23 years – opened up about her secrets to business success after working alongside her husband Bill for 28 years.

‘To start with, he has an office on one side of the building and I have one on the other. We keep our distance,’ she said.

‘One of the things they say in business is surround yourself with good people. What better people than your family?

‘What better to do it than people who love and support you no matter what and are going to tell you when you are on track and honest and open with you and not just say, “yes, yes, yes” because you are the boss.’

‘Having success in business – it’s not just about how much money you make, it’s about how your life is, and how you got it altogether seemingly.’

With nearly 30 years experience in the fitness industry, Ms Clarkson said the biggest lesson she learned is to ‘be yourself’.

‘I have had many lessons 28 years in business. There’s a lot. I’m the person that gets on with it. I don’t want to burden people with my problems,’ she said.

‘To get the message across and teach people how to love and accept themselves, I had to go there. It was hard. Biggest lesson, to be yourself.

‘I want to be loved. Everyone wants people to like them and not be popular but just have a really great group of friends around them.’

And when it comes to wearing activewear, Ms Clarkson advises: ‘Wear what you feel comfortable in.’

‘People wear activewear as a symbol of “I look after myself”. They’re proud to show off their bottom, their curves,’ she said.

‘With anything in fashion it has to suit your body shape. If you’re not sure, if you’re not great at styling or fashion – take a friend, take someone who is honest.

‘I think you can wear activewear anywhere. I think it really is what the modern woman is looking for.’
