Health Blender £40

Lorraine is a long-time fan of smoothies because they are nutrition-dense, quick to prepare and portable. So it’s no surprise that a power blender was top of her list when creating her own range of kitchen gadgets. This 1000w machine has four BPA-free plastic cups with two lids (one for on-the-go) and everything – blades and all – goes in the dishwasher. Kitchen Angel £80

The pressure cooker has come a long way since the screeching stovetop pots of the 1970s. Now we’re in the age of the digital instant multi-cooker. This plug-in marvel is a pressure cooker/slow cooker hybrid that takes you from morning porridge to evening curry with perfect rice and bone broth thrown in. It removes two of the biggest barriers to healthy eating: time and effort. The Kitchen Angel is quiet and locks in the nutrients in whatever you are cooking – be it curry, grains, porridge or veg, and cooks it all in double quick-time. Or you can set a one-pot meal to slow cook in the morning and have it ready when you get home.

Air Fryer £70

If you’ve put deep fried food in the sin bin, an air fryer offers a healthier option. It uses only a fraction of the oil. Yes, chips are back on the menu. Lorraine explains. ‘The beauty of this appliance is you don’t have to preheat it, you use 80 per cent less fat. It’s the air that cooks the food.’ The fryer makes light work of one of Lorraine’s signature dishes – Popcorn Chicken – chicken pieces coated in egg and breadcrumbs.

Soup Maker £50

It cooks and it blends and it keeps your soup warm. This gadget is ‘great when you are in a hurry and want quick nutritious meals,’ says Lorraine, who likes to cook a chunky plant-based miso mushroom soup in hers. ‘I open the lid and chuck everything in,’ she says. It also makes soya and nut milks, baby food and jam. Because it has a 1.2 litre capacity you can feed the family or batch cook for the freezer. A common complaint with appliances that blend is that they are difficult to clean but this one has an auto clean function that practically does the washing up!

Stand Mixer £80

As the queen of cakes, Lorraine knows that you don’t need dozens of fancy attachments to be a proficient home baker. To go with her 4.5 litre, seven-speed mixer, she has curated a set of four accessories for everyday cooking: a whisk for whipping up light creams and folding in egg whites, a dough hook for bread and pasta, a flat beater for cake mixes and even mashed potato, plus that all important splash guard (we’ve all been there). Victoria sponge sorted.
