A lucky mother from Sydney burst into tears after winning $24million in the Powerball draw on Boxing Day.

The anonymous punter, from Moreton Bay near Brisbane, didn’t know she’d won the life-changing sum until a lottery official called her on Friday.

‘Thank you so much. I don’t know what to say. It’s a lot. It’s incredible,’ she said through tear.

‘It is something I’ve only ever dreamt about. It happens to other people, not people like me.

‘I was asleep when you rang and nearly didn’t answer the phone. I can’t believe it. Oh my God.’

Her husband could be heard in the background saying: ‘I’m going to s*** myself.’

The woman, who was the only division one winner in Powerball draw 1232, has not set plans for how to spend the cash but said she would share it with her children.

A father from Sydney’s west won $20million in a separate Powerball draw on Christmas Eve.

‘I had no idea I had won on Christmas Eve. I’m speechless. I’m a bit shaky actually. I’m just speechless. It’s a very nice Christmas gift. It’s the best present,’ the man in his 40s said.

‘It’s been an OK year, but this really caps it off perfectly. This news is definitely the best way to finish off the year. This will be hard to top next Christmas,’ he added.
