Crestfallen owner of a Lotus Elise awakes to find his $100,000 car was rear ended by a driver who then fled the scene

The owner of a $100,000 sports car awoke on Tuesday to discover his Lotus Elise had been rear ended while parked on the side of a street.

The luxury vehicle was parked in Bondi in Sydney overnight.

Pictures show the Lotus Elise was struck by another car from behind, causing it to slam into a car in front and trigger a domino effect.

The force of the impact was so intense it caused a three-car pile up.  

Images show the boot and bonnet of the car completely smashed in.

The culprit was nowhere to be seen. Police allege the driver fled after the accident.
