A Louisiana woman who was accused of brutally beating her boyfriend’s seven-year-old son in 2015 has formally been charged for the alleged abuse.
Morning Brooks, 47, was charged with cruelty to a juvenile on November 20 for allegedly fracturing the child’s skull, pushing tacks into his skin and forcing him to kneel naked in a corner.
Authorities said the boy, who also suffered from burns, bruises and cuts, told them in 2015 that Brooks ‘wanted to kill him’.

The child also told Kenner police that Brooks hit him on the head with a cooking and punched him, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
His father took him to the Tulane-Lakeside Hospital in Metairie for treatment of his injuries on October 10, 2015. According to the newspaper, the abuse started in August.
Police did not consider the boy’s father a suspect in the abuse case; although, it’s unclear when he found out about his child’s injuries.
In April, the child used the word ‘torture’ when speaking to investigators about the alleged abuse that occurred in an apartment in Kenner.
Authorities said it took them more than a year to investigate the case because they wanted to make sure they had the appropriate charges.
Brooks is scheduled to be arraigned in December and if convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
