The product design manager has now addressed the backlash and blamed the editing for the negative depiction he received.

Sam answered a series of questions from fans on his Instagram Stories, with one asking the contestant if he had feelings for Nicole.

He replied: ‘The show was intense and high-pressure, and the editing hasn’t really worked in my favour. But my connection with Nicole in the pods was genuine and she’s an amazing person.’

Another fan admitted they wanted to dislike him but couldn’t, with Sam cheekily saying: ‘I guess someone has to play the villain.’

Answering a question about if he was annoyed by how the show perceived him as ‘not genuine,’ he responded: ‘I guess it was TV gold. x100.’

Nicole has become one of the standout stars on hit Netflix show Love Is Blind UK – but it turns out it’s not her first rodeo with reality TV.

The first four episodes of the reality TV show landed on Netflix on Wednesday, showing hopeful singletons dating their suitor without ever laying eyes on them, at least until they’re engaged.

Singleton Nicole, 29, entered the pods this week in a bid to find love, however, eagle-eyed fans soon realised that it wasn’t her first stint on TV as she has appeared on another popular TV show.

After watching the show, viewers took to the Love Is Blind UK Reddit community to discuss where they knew her from, and several people remembered that she once appeared on Come Dine With Me.

Commenting on the show, one viewer said: ‘I knew she looked familiar!! Actually there has been a few of them I thought looked familiar.’

Another echoed: ‘I think she’s been on something else too because I’ve definitely seen her before.’

While a third chimed in: ‘You know what? The ENTIRE time I was watching her onscreen, I kept thinking that she was so familiar.’

Other viewers claimed that Nicole is ‘fame hungry’ and accused Netflix of ‘hiring her to push a plot’, with one swiping: ‘I thought she was dumb for even considering Sam and then I realised she’s on the same grind as him and they are fame chasers together.’

Another added: ‘Come Dine With Me is the pinnacle of daytime TV and I won’t accept any disagreements, thank you. But it does appear as if our Nicole is trawling the telly for attention because absolutely nobody goes on CDWM for the money or, heaven forbid, to flaunt their culinary skills.’

However others defended Nicole, with one pointing out: ‘I don’t think she was looking for fame. I don’t think people on cooking shows are the same as people on dating shows.’

Nicole’s episodes of Come Dine With Me first aired in August 2021, where she competed against contestants Adam, Izzy, Mark and Chris.

She ended up finishing the competition in fourth place after her hosting skills and meal failed to impress.

Nicole said on the show at the time: ‘I gave it my best shot, at least I’m not Adam [who came last].’

Love Is Blind UK is available to watch on Netflix.
