Love Island Australia winner Mitch Hibberd has tested positive to COVID-19.

The Melbourne-based AFL player, 25, revealed on Instagram on Wednesday he had returned a positive test after getting tested before travelling.

‘I was meant to be travelling this week and had to get a Covid test and it has actually come back positive,’ Mitch revealed.

‘I’ve got Covid-19 and Tina [Provis], Aaron [Waters] and Ryan [Reid] have all been staying with me so we are waiting for their results which is not good.’

‘We are currently doing a 10 day quarantine in Melbourne in my apartment. I feel a little bit sick but nothing too bad,’ he added.

Mitch and his girlfriend Tina had been planning to spend Christmas in Tasmania with his family.

Mitch and Tina were crowned the winners of the 2021 series of Love Island last month.

The pair were voted Australia’s favourite couple, winning the nation’s hearts over fellow finalists Chris Graudins and Zoe Clish, and Jess Velkovski and Aaron Waters.

As with every season, the winners were given an envelope at the end – one containing $50,000, and one containing nothing.

Tina, 25, then had to chose whether she split the money, or took it for herself – therefore revealing if she was in it for money or love. Of course, she chose love.

‘I did not expect to meet someone so special or to make it through to the final – and with a boyfriend!’ Tina said post-win.

‘But our connection was instant and I’m so grateful for the journey we’ve shared.

‘I can’t wait for our future together and I’m very thankful to the Australian public for believing in us.’
