Love Island bosses poised to include gay couples

Love Island bosses are reportedly keen to maximize on the show’s enormous success by casting gay and lesbian contestants this summer.

The dating show, which has been a hit with viewers over the past two years, received some backlash last year after they failed to include members of the LGBT community.

But producers are said to be keen on rectifying the issue by including both heterosexual and homosexual couples in the summer line up.

Speaking to the Daily Star Online, an insider said: ‘Love Island was undoubtedly the biggest reality show this year, it had everyone talking. Even people who weren’t watching the show still heard about it.

‘The main thing they came under fire for was sex on TV, which people have now started to accept, so come next series people won’t really care about that.

‘ITV want to increase the shock factor of the show and keep people talking, by having LGBT people included.’

Sophie Gradon and Katie Salmon – who are both bisexual – previously featured on the show but they weren’t allowed to get together with members of the same sex.

However, the rules didn’t stop them as they were seen hooking up on air regardless.

The last series kept viewers entertained for the whole series and popular contestants such as Kem Cetinay – who won the show with his now-ex-girlfriend Amber Davies – Chris Hughes, Jonny Mitchell and Marcel Somerville have gone on to have huge success.

Kem is currently taking part in Dancing on Ice, while Chris has attempted to carve out a grime career.

Elsewhere Jonny is inside the Celebrity Big Brother house and Marcel is writing a new album with his former Blazin’ Squad band mates.

But, although their professional careers have taken off, their love lives haven’t proved as successful as all of them – with the exception of Marcel and Chris – are now single.
