Love Island’s Ellie Brown ‘starved’ herself to lose weight but is now ‘perfectly fit’

‘I practically starved myself going into the villa’: Love Island’s Ellie Brown reveals the extreme lengths she went to lose weight for the show

Love Island’s Ellie Brown said she ‘starved’ herself and spent hours in the gym each day to lose weight before featuring on the show.

The blonde beauty, 21, who starred in the ITV programme in 2018, discussed her experience in the villa ahead of the new winter series, which first airs on Sunday.

Ellie, who said she has put on ‘a stone or so’ in weight since exiting the villa, said the new singletons would be under the ‘same pressures’ from trolls scrutinising ‘every pound’ in weight.

The reality star wrote in The Sun about her experience of intensively exercising before she appeared on Love Island.

‘I practically starved myself going into the villa — eating nothing but fish and vegetables for months and spending hours sweating away in the gym each day ,for two months, I spent two-and-a-half hours a day in the gym,’ she said.

‘I hired a personal trainer for weight training, then would spend the rest sweating away on the treadmill.

‘I looked amazing, but that diet really isn’t sustainable. I’d end some days completely exhausted because my body wasn’t getting all the nutrients it — and, of course, the meals became SO boring,’ she added.

Ellie went on to say whilst there was not pressure from the show’s producers to lose weight, the stars put it on herself because they knew people would express opinions about how they looked.

And she said she is ‘constantly trolled’ on social media by people asking how she has ‘put on so much weight’.

Ellie, who said she is now ‘perfectly fit and happy’ also opened up about her Love Island pal Molly-Mae Hague, who she said had to defend herself against ‘vile body-shamers’.

Molly-Mae had to point out to critics she was ‘healthier’ after putting on a stone and a half since leaving the show, Ellie said.

In September, Molly-Mae said she felt ‘under pressure to look good’ and said she had put on ‘a lot of weight’ since exiting the villa.

She told The Sun: ‘Since coming out [of the villa] I’ve put on a lot of weight. I just know in myself I’m normally in much better shape.

‘I’m really going to make sure in the next few to make sure I focus on myself. Normally I’m gym-obsessed but I’ve struggled to get there.’

Ellie’s comments come after she insisted she was single in November. She posteda cryptic message on Instagram.

The Geordie beauty had posted a sultry snap which showed off her very ample assets, alongside a message which read: ‘When ur mans giving u a migraine’.

Yet despite the caption which indicated she is seeing someone, the star insisted she ‘couldn’t be anymore single’ when her fellow Ex On The Beach star Sophie Kasaei, 30, responded.

Sophie wrote: ‘Who’s ya mandem then’, to which Ellie replied, ‘I couldn’t be anymore single just thought it was a funny caption’.
