Love Island’s Grant Crapp claims Tayla Damir dumped him via Instagram

Love Island Australia’s Tayla Damir left fans shocked when she announced her split with Grant Crapp on Thursday afternoon.

And news of their breakup apparently left Grant blindsided too.

Within minutes of the story breaking, the 22-year-old electrician claimed he only learned his relationship was over after reading about it on Instagram.

‘This is news to me!’ Love Island Australia’s Grant Crapp has sensationally claimed he DIDN’T KNOW Tayla Damir had dumped him until reading about it on Instagram on Thursday afternoon

The official Love Island Australia Instagram page shared news of the split on Thursday, linking to the full story on Channel Nine’s The Fix.

Grant commented below the post, ‘This is news to me??’, seemingly oblivious to the fact Tayla had ended their romance.

The news also sent shockwaves through the Love Island cast, with Teddy Briggs claiming he was confused by the announcement.

‘Um, weren’t you guys together yesterday? Not sure if true… #realnews or #fakenews,’ he commented on Instagram.

Jaxon Human was just as surprised, writing: ‘Um… what is this, I speak to Grant most days and this is the first I have heard about it.’

However, Grant’s claims he was unaware of the breakup were questioned by fellow Love Island contestant Millie Fuller.

She replied to his original comment: ‘Are you kidding me? I was with Tayla last night and you were with the boys in a different hotel. Another lie and yet again you hurt Tayla even more.’

‘Obviously I’m heartbroken…  [He] didn’t really think of the consequences’: Speaking to The Fix, Tayla revealed she broke up with Grant after discovering he had a secret girlfriend before flying to Spain to film Love Island

On Thursday, Tayla announced she and Grant had split in an interview with The Fix.

‘Obviously I’m heartbroken, it was a big shock to the system,’ she said.

Referencing the fact that Grant signed up for Love Island despite already having a girlfriend, she added: ‘I still respect him as a person and I just think he’s young and he’s made a massively bad decision.

‘[He] didn’t really think of the consequences that maybe a girl would have fallen in love with him, which just happened to be me.

‘Hopefully that’s something he learned through this experience and he learns not to play with people’s emotions.’

She also took to her Instagram page on Thursday, to thank fans for their support.

‘I want to take the time to thank everyone who supported Grant and I during our Love Island journey and especially everyone who has continued to support us since,’ Tayla began.

‘It has been incredible so far and I feel lucky and privileged to have had the opportunity.’

She admitted that she wants to ‘stay true’ to herself – a possible reason why she decided to split with Grant.

‘The number one thing for me going into Love Island was to stay completely true to myself and my emotions and that’s what I must continue to do,’ she said.

‘But it’s with great heartbreak that I write this post to inform everyone that Grant and I are no longer together, but will remain amicable despite the circumstances.’

She added that she hopes everyone can ‘respect’ her decision.

‘I hope everyone can understand that the last few days have been very emotional and overwhelming for me and that you can all respect my decision.’
