The news also sent shockwaves through the Love Island cast, with Teddy Briggs and Jaxon Human claiming they were confused by the announcement.

However, Grant’s claims he was unaware of the breakup were questioned by fellow Love Island contestant Millie Fuller.

She replied to his original comment: ‘Are you kidding me? I was with Tayla last night and you were with the boys in a different hotel. Another lie and yet again you hurt Tayla even more.’

On Thursday, Tayla announced she and Grant had split in an interview with The Fix.

‘Obviously I’m heartbroken, it was a big shock to the system,’ she said.

Referencing the fact that Grant signed up for Love Island despite already having a girlfriend, she added: ‘I still respect him as a person and I just think he’s young and he’s made a massively bad decision.

‘[He] didn’t really think of the consequences that maybe a girl would have fallen in love with him, which just happened to be me.

‘Hopefully that’s something he learned through this experience and he learns not to play with people’s emotions.’
