‘Love triangle’ footy stars who had a dramatic falling out patch up their differences

The footy stars caught up in a messy love triangle after one was busted ‘getting intimate’ with his mate’s fiancée earlier this year have patched up their differences.

NRL players Adam Elliott and Michael Lichaa are now again on speaking terms following an incident in February where Lichaa caught his former Canterbury Bulldogs teammate kissing his partner Kara Childerhouse.

On the night in question at a home in Sydney’s south, Lichaa found the pair together at 4.30am and allegedly flew into a rage.

He stands accused of assaulting Ms Childerhouse and smashing four windows that later required surgery to his forearm.

When the matter is before Sutherland Local Court, Lichaa will contest a handful of charges, notably common assault.

In one message, Elliott said he had made 'the biggest mistake of my life'

Elliott, 27, confirmed to the Daily Telegraph the former teammates at Belmore have ended their ugly feud.

‘What happened, happened. It’s water under the bridge now and we’ve both moved on,’ he said.

‘Michael needed some breathing space but I eventually contacted him.

‘The important thing is we’re both now living our lives the way we want to be. We will always be mates.’

The day after the incident back in February, Elliott sent Lichaa a number of grovelling texts after discovering the dummy half was to undergo surgery.

Elliott apologised for ‘betraying their friendship’ before admitting he has some ‘serious deep issues’ when it comes to alcohol consumption.

Elliott went on to label his conduct the ‘worst mistake of my life.’

When Elliott was again in the headlines in September after he was booted from a Gold Coast restaurant by security while with NRL women’s footy player Millie Boyle, Lichaa reached out.

Elliott, who recently signed with the Canberra Raiders, ‘really appreciated’ the sentiment when ‘everyone else was sticking the boot in’.

The backrower is now dating Ms Boyle and ‘considers himself very lucky’.

Following the incident with Ms Boyle in a men’s bathroom on the Glitter Strip, Elliott was sacked by Canterbury, who grew tired of his questionable behaviour after a few beers.

He is relishing a fresh start with the Green Machine ahead of the 2022 NRL season and recently was seen being affectionate with his new squeeze at Sydney’s Royal Oak Hotel in Double Bay.

In an Instagram post, Boyle posted a picture of her with Elliott.

‘I’m normally private with this sort of stuff,’ she said. ‘But we are together. We were both single and mates from a long time ago.’

She explained that Elliott will be playing in the nation’s capital while she plays for the Broncos NRLW team in Brisbane.

‘We’ll see how we go from a long distance. I’ll watch some of his games and he can come and watch mine,’ she said.

The pair knew one another before their football careers after growing up near Bega on the NSW south coast.

At the time of the toilet tryst, Boyle said: ‘Look, all we did was have a kiss in the bathroom. It’s been taken way out of context. It’s a big kerfuffle about nothing.’

Elliott is no stranger to controversy, having been stood down for the Bulldogs last two games of the season against the Sea Eagles and Tigers.

Before the fiasco involving Lichaa and Ms Childerhouse, he has been embroiled in numerous alcohol-fuelled incidents.

Following the regrettable episode at Lichaa’s residence, Elliott vowed to stay off alcohol.

In 2018, Elliott pleaded guilty to obscenely exposing himself in public after a wild ‘Mad Monday’ celebration at Sydney’s Harbour View Hotel.

Elliott and teammate Asipeli Fine exposed themselves on a balcony of the pub in full view of people doing the BridgeClimb on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Both were charged with obscene exposure and the Bulldogs were handed a $320,000 fine, after the men allegedly drunkenly danced to Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline sans clothing.

The two later each received a two-year good behaviour bond.
