Lucky punter ACCIDENTALLY wins almost $1million in lottery

  • A middle-aged man can now afford to bring his bachelor pad dreams to life
  • He mistakenly bought a Slikpik 50 ticket instead of his usual Slikpik 25
  • The man became one of two WA division one winners, pocketing $976,000

An accidental slip of the hand while making a lotto selection online has landed a Perth man nearly a million dollars richer.

The Roleystone local intended on purchasing his usual Slikpik 25 ticket in the Saturday lotto but unintentionally bought a Slikpik 50 instead.

His slip-up ended up making him one of two Western Australian division one winners this week, with him pocketing a whopping $976,000.

‘Thank god I made the stuff-up because it won on line 44!’ the lucky winner told Lotterywest.

‘When I looked online and saw I had won, I thought it might be an electrical phenomenon. That or I was seeing things after a big Christmas party the night before,’ the middle-aged man said.

The long-time renter has a firm idea of what he’ll be doing with his newfound fortune, with his sights on setting himself up in an ultimate bachelor pad.

‘But first on the wish-list is definitely a new TV,’ he said.

‘I’ve been dreaming about a 55-inch screen – it’s going to be a real whopper.’

While the man wasted no time on collecting his hefty sum, the other WA winner, who purchased their ticket from Woolstores Lottery Centre in Fremantle, was yet to claim their prize.

A giant $20 million OZ Lotto jackpot was set down for Wednesday night, and a $30 million Megadraw is set to be drawn December 30.

WA’s stroke of good luck might continue, according to Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone.

‘Let’s hope our lucky streak continues all the way from tonight’s jackpot to the $30 million Megadraw on 30 December,’ Ms Compagnone said.

‘I think Western Australia is going to come up with the goods and produce some newly minted millionaires.’
