Luke Shaw makes history after scoring the quickest-ever goal in a European Championship final as England make a dream start against Italy in their bid for a first major trophy in 55 years

Luke Shaw has scored the quickest-ever goal in a European Championship final as England got off to the best possible start against Italy. 

The Manchester United left back started the move, shifting the ball forward to Harry Kane, who found Kieran Trippier careering down the right wing.

The Atletico Madrid right back ignored the overlapping Kyle Walker and flighted a cross to the back post, where Shaw was on hand to tuck home in off the post.   

BBC co-commentator Jermaine Jenas said: ‘It’s a dream start. There’s a few things you can’t ignore in the build up to that goal. 

‘Kyle Walker’s run over 30 or 40 yards was so unselfish and it gave Kieran Trippier the time he needed to put that cross in.’
