This is the horrifying moment a motorist was sent flying out of his car after crashing into a primary school.  

The driver suffered only minor injuries despite the spectacular collision in Luton, Bedfordshire, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Flashing police lights are seen shortly after the smash before police officers run past the wrecked car and towards the casualty. 

The video shows the car slammed into a brick pillar outside Beech Hill Primary School at about 4am, sending the vehicle spiraling out of control.

The car comes to a stop on its side with what appears to be fuel spurting out of the bonnet. Police arrive on the scene as officers race towards the wreckage. 

It comes after Bedfordshire Police posted on its Facebook page saying they had attended a road traffic collision in that area that morning.

They posted: ‘Dunstable Road in Luton now reopened. We attended a road traffic collision in Dunstable Road, Luton at around 4am this morning.

‘One vehicle was involved and the driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, suffered minor injuries and has been taken to hospital.

‘The road was closed while recovery work took place but has now reopened.

‘Anyone with any information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting reference 29 of today.’
