A luxury penthouse with a rooftop terrace, spa and incredible 360-degree views of the city skyline has sold for a record-breaking $16million. 

The two-storey home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms on the 19th and 20th floors of the HMAS apartments in Port Melbourne.

The suburb’s previous record was $7.05million sale for a luxury beachfront house in May 2018. 

Property tycoon and winemaker Elias Jessriati and his wife Colleen called the sky mansion home for 12 years before putting it on the market almost four years ago.  

Melbourne-based Chinese property developer Runlong Fang swooped on the penthouse – days after buying a St Kilda Road office tower for $163million.

A private 400 square metre rooftop terrace with 360-degree views above the two-level penthouse is the crown on top of the luxurious getaway. 

The terrace has views of the the Melbourne CBD skyline, Port Phillip Bay, Port Melbourne Beach and the nearby Albert Park where the Australian Grand Prix is held. 

A tiled spa, an outdoor kitchen, a rooftop garden and lounge areas are perfect for entertaining guests – and the rooftop can hold up to 100 of them. 

Below the terrace is a 1,040sq m of space with floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious living and dining areas.

The penthouse’s wine cellar can hold 1,800 bottles, which would have been useful for previous owner Jessriati who owns Levantine Hill Estate – a winery in the Yarra Valley.

Six car parking spots are also available for a millionaire’s luxury car collection. 

A tennis court, gym, pool, sauna, spa and conference room are all included in the apartment’s amenities. 

The original asking price for the penthouse was $18million – $2million above what it was sold for.
