An angry cyclist launched into a shocking foul mouth tirade at a pregnant woman during a confrontation over the Highway Code.
The cyclist was accused of breaching the code by riding two abreast ‘in the middle’ of a road in Cleethorpes, Grimsby – even though he was seemingly in the right.
The aggressive confrontation was filmed by a passenger in the car and has been shared more than 600 times on social media.
In the footage, the cyclist leans towards the car window and rants at the pregnant woman, calling her a ‘f***ing stupid c***’.
An angry cyclist called a pregnant woman a ‘f***ing stupid c***’ during an angry confrontation over the Highway Code in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire
The cyclist insists that he was ‘doing nothing wrong’ during his vicious tirade, shouting at the woman through the partially open window.
He says: ‘What? A bike is allowed on the f***ing road.’
The woman calmly responds, saying: ‘If you actually look in the Highway Code you can see that you’re not allowed two abreast.’
But the man argues that the code states that cyclists can go ‘double file’ on a 30mile-an-hour road, before swearing at the woman and seemingly storming off.
Section 66 of the Highway Code advises cyclists not to ‘ride more than two abreast’ but instead ‘ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends’.
But this is an advisory rule and there is no law in place to prevent cyclists from doing so.
The code also states that cyclists can ride in the centre of a lane to deter unsafe passes, particularly on slower, urban roads – seeming to prove the cyclist was correct.
Riding in the middle of the road, or taking the ‘primary position’, is adopted by cyclists when passing parked cars whose doors may suddenly open, to prevent traffic overtaking dangerously in narrow roads and when manoeuvring or turning.
It is understood that the confrontation began after the driver sounded their horn at the cyclist for ‘holding cars up’.
The cyclist reportedly ‘followed the car’ into Cleethorpes Country Park before launching into a ‘very aggressive’ verbal attack at the woman.
The video was uploaded on social media with an appeal to trace down the cyclist.
The post was captioned: ‘Does anyone know this man please?
‘Was in the middle of the road, two people.
‘Then when bibbed at because was holding cars up, he was throwing up hand signals.
‘Deliberately cycled slower and was all over the road then followed the car and very violent and aggressive.’
It has also been claimed that the cyclist scratched and dented the car along one side and also on the boot.

It has also been claimed that the cyclist ‘attacked the vehicle, scratching and denting the car along one side and also on the boot (above) after the footage ended
It continues: ‘After the video, he proceeded to attack the vehicle and has left multiple scratches and dents along the boot and side.
‘My friend is pregnant and very distressed now because of this man.’
The cyclist has caused fury on social media, with users saying there was ‘no need to speak to her like that’ whether he was in ‘right or wrong’.
One user said: ‘While the guy’s behaviour is completely disgusting, he is correct.
‘We are allowed in the middle of the roads and are allowed to cycle two wide.
‘You have to treat cyclists just like you would a motorbike or another car.’
Another user said: ‘There is no need for him to be so arrogant about it. It gives cyclists a bad reputation.’
Others have compared the aggressive cyclist to Ronnie Pickering, who became a viral hit after infamously shouting ‘do you know who I am?’ at a moped rider.
The bewildered rider responded ‘who?’ after the man said he was ‘Ronnie Pickering’.
One person said: ‘Regardless of who is right and who is wrong, there is no need for such aggression and disgusting language.
‘As for damaging the car, how can that be justified?’
