Lycra-clad lout ploughs into little girl on his bike in Stourbridge

This is the shocking moment a reckless cyclist was caught on CCTV ploughing into a young girl before riding off.

Footage shows the impatient cyclist speeding past a family as they rode past an antiques shop.

As the cyclist tries to weave past them, he collides with the youngster’s bike, sending her tumbling to the ground.

Shockingly, the rider then cycles off leaving the girl in tears on the road before her horrified father rushes to comfort her.

The hit-and-run incident was captured on security cameras outside Grandad’s Attic antiques shop in Stourbridge, Worcestershire, on Sunday at 1pm.

Shop owner Dave Powell, 57, said: ‘I was inside my shop and I heard some kind of thing going on and a girl crying.

‘I looked out my door, and presumed she had fallen off her bike but then saw her dad come running back towards her and realised that she had been knocked off the bike by an adult.

‘Her dad had chased after him but then come back to see how his daughter was. He was torn between going after the cyclist and seeing how his daughter was.

‘There was a group of people gathered. I gave her a drink and a bowl of water and we mopped her wounds. They were just grazes but she was very upset.

‘There is a bridge and by the side of the bridge there is a little wall, 18 inches high, and mountain bikers think it is clever to hop up onto the wall and hop off the other end.

‘The family were walking along the wall and as they got to the end he was jumping off. He jumped right into the little girl.

‘I think part of the problem is that it has got so popular. There are more people cycling on the footpath.’

Mr Powell said he understood the family had reported the incident to West Mercia Police.
