Macgregor crash footage shows Commodore smash into 12-year-old Brisbane boy on bike

Footage has emerged of the moment a car allegedly ran through a red light before it smashed into a 12-year-old boy and its driver fled the scene.

The boy was riding his bike with his brother and father when he was allegedly struck on Kessels Road, at Macgregor, in Brisbane’s south, at 12.05pm on Thursday.

CCTV footage from a nearby business captured the trio crossing the road at a set of lights at a busy intersection before they disappear from view behind a large sign.

A green Commodore then allegedly smashed into the boy with footage showing a bicycle being hurtled through the air and losing its front tire.

A power pole comes crashing down before the father and brother rush to the boy’s aid amid the chaos.

The driver is seen bolting past the boy lying by the side of the footpath while his passenger runs away in another direction.

Police allege the driver had been behind the wheel of an unregistered vehicle in the lead-up to the crash.

Officers had turned on the police lights of their vehicle and followed the car in an attempt to intercept it. 

The green Commodore allegedly sped off before then allegedly running through a red light and mowing down the boy.

The young boy was taken to hospital with multiple fractures and a head injury.

He is in a serious but stable condition.
