Machete attack in St Kilda, Melbourne: Man injured during attempted carjacking

A man has had his head slashed with a machete during an attempted carjacking in St Kilda, Melbourne.

The horrific attack took place last night near the intersection of Barkly and Carlisle streets, 3AW reports.

Two men approached the man, demanding he hand over his keys, before one of the offenders struck the man in the head with a machete.

He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police rushed to the scene but were unable to find the offenders.
