The mother of a young British model who fell to her death while taking photos on a clifftop in Australia has pleaded with online trolls to stop mocking her daughter.
Madalyn Davis, 21, was watching the sunrise at Diamond Bay in the east of Sydney when she fell from the 100ft cliff, a notorious selfie spot.
Cruel online trolls wasted no time mocking her for her death after she climbed over a safety fence to get a perfect Instagram photo.
Her mother, Rebecca Smith, said Madalyn was a ‘wonderful, beautiful person that made a mistake’ as she took aim at the ‘nasty people’ online.

‘My daughter was not self-obsessed she was a wonderful beautiful person that made a mistake. How can you write such things? She has a little sister and brother who be reading this,’ the British model’s mother said.
She also mocked the trolls for helping ‘make her famous’ as she condemned the ‘nasty people’ attacking her daughter.
‘Fill your boots you nasty people, you are the ones that [have] to sleep with yourselves at night,’ she said.
‘Madalyn was loved, she had integrity and decency. If you need to believe otherwise in order to feel better about yourself then that’s your pain. I wish you healing to whatever trauma led to you behave this way.’
She added: ‘She always wanted to be famous so thank you trolls you are making this happen’.
Ms Smith shared several pictures of her daughter, calling her ‘my little weirdo’ and adding ‘You were one in a million’.

‘Wanted a photo for Instagram got a Darwin award instead.’
The cliffs are a notorious selfie spot where another tourist died in similar circumstances in August after climbing over a safety fence.
Friends also angrily shut down the trolls who attacked the young woman, saying they should respect her grieving family.
‘What happened to Maddy was a mistake and no one should be blamed especially not her,’ her friend Meg Feather wrote.
‘Imagine how you would feel if you lost your daughter or your best friend or your sister and everyone was saying it was her own fault, please. Just think twice.’

Ms Feather also lashed out in a video on her Instagram at the trolls who she said had kept her crying for hours.
‘Do you know what that will do to her family and her mum and her friends, i literally can’t believe it,’ she said.
‘People who don’t even know her are commenting saying that she deserved it. They know all her family and friends have to read it.
‘Everyone would want to take a picture of that sunrise, it was just an accident.’
The young tourist arrived in Australia late last year from Lincoln, England, and was planning on starting a new life there.

Trolls returned fire with more insults leveled at Md Davis’ friends who tried to defend her
Close family friend Lydia Woodward said: ‘Maddy had been at a party and then they all went to this cliff to take pictures.
‘It appears that Maddy was sitting on the cliff edge to have her picture taken when she fell. It’s such a tragedy.’
Ms Davis was having ‘the time of her life’ in Australia in the lead up to the fatal accident.
Mrs Woodward told MailOnline: ‘Maddy was having the time of her life. She wanted to see everything and do everything and was having a good time.
‘She was the life and soul of the party. And she was doing her best to have a good time.’
Maddy’s family are distraught by news of her death, Mrs Woodward, a close friend of the 21-year-old’s mother Rebecca ‘Becky’ Smith revealed.
She said: ‘They (Maddy’s parents) are beside themselves. One moment they are laughing when they remember funny things about Maddy, the next moment they are in floods of tears. They are all over the place.
‘They are still talking about who will go to Australia to identify the body. It’s very early stages. It has only been 24 hours since she died.’

They are believed to have climbed over a fence to sit on the edge of the cliff to watch the sunrise and take photographs before she fell.
Ms Davis was mourned in dozens of tributes by shattered friends online, remembered as a ‘free spirit’ who was ‘beautiful inside and out’.
Her mother Rebecca Smith desperately tried to get hold of her on Sunday afternoon and begged friends to help track her down.
‘Anyone seen Maddie? Not been able to get hold of her please get in touch if you were out with her last night,’ she posted online.
However, by Monday morning her family confirmed Ms Davis had died and thanked her friends for their kind words.
‘Thank you for all your beautiful condolences for Madalyn Davis and her family – it is an absolute tragedy to which nothing has been confirmed,’ another family member wrote.

‘I really don’t know how to process this Maddie, last time we saw each other was three years ago and now you are gone,’ one wrote.
‘I will never ever forget the times we shared together the giggle fits we had in town. I will forever miss you, angel.’
Another friend wrote: ‘You were an incredibly beautiful model and talented artist giving so much colour to the world.
‘You were so fun to be with that so many people have so many great stories and memories they tell about you, you will be so very sorely missed.
‘I hope all the koalas and kangaroos are looking after you.’
A third added: ‘It was a pleasure knowing you Maddie, you were beautiful inside as well as outside.’

A friend in Newcastle, NSW, said he was planning a trip to Sydney to visit Ms Davis and her friends, but now it was too late.
‘I’m utterly destroyed… I would never have thought it would happen. She has such a gorgeous soul,’ he wrote.
Ms Davis on December 14 told her friends she was having the ‘best time’ travelling and had no plans to return to Britain.
‘Can’t believe I’ve been travelling for a whole month now!’ she wrote next to a photo of her at the Full Moon Party in Thailand in November.
‘Not looked back at my old life once (miss my job though) and I am super excited for my future abroad,’ she wrote.
Ms Davis was supporting her stay in Australia by styling eyelashes for $50 a set, and occasional modelling work.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to Diamond Bay Reserve after reports a woman had fallen off a cliff.
‘Emergency services were alerted after a group of people taking photos inside the fence early this morning regathered and could not find the woman,’ it said.
They commenced an air and water search and retrieved her body about 10.30am on Saturday.

In August last year, a 27-year-old woman fell to her death while posing for photos on the cliff face.
A witness told The Daily Telegraph at the time vigilant bystanders tried to resuscitate the woman while others helped her distressed friend, who had taken the photo.
‘The friend needed a couple of men to help her all the way up (the path),’ they said.
Diamond Bay is a popular location for selfies, with numerous photos tagged #diamondbay on Instagram snapped from the cliff edge.
The Waverley Council said last year it would crack down on visitors risking their lives at Diamond Bay for the perfect picture.
Mayor Paula Masselos told The Daily Telegraph council was devastated to learn about the latest death.
Further talks will begin on Monday on how to keep people away from the spot.

‘I’ve already asked the general manager and we’re having a meeting tomorrow to discuss it. It depends in part on what the police investigation reveals,’ Ms Masselos said.
Security was increased around the lookout in August following the 27-year-old’s death.
‘Extra patrols, more signs, the fencing we increased as well … when the rangers tell people not to go over boundary fences they don’t listen, they go further down and go over boundary fences further down,’ Ms Masselos said.
