Maddie Ziegler on Sia relationship

She’s the prodigious American dancer who plays Australian popstress Sia’s doppleganger in her music videos.

And Maddie Ziegler has revealed that getting the call to star in the mysterious chanteuse’s Chandelier clip was life-changing and that the pair went on to become a ‘dynamic duo.’

Speaking to News Corp this week, the effervescent 14-year-old, who first came to Sia’s attention via the reality show Dance Moms, on which Maddie starred, said that she had no idea who the Australian singer was when they first met.

‘I didn’t know exactly who she was that well, being 11,’ she said.

‘So when I met her I was ‘Wow, she’s so incredible’. I thought I would do this one video and never see her again. But we became a dynamic duo.’

Maddie’s performance in Chandelier has been viewed almost 1.7 billion times since it was released in 2014.

That turn led Maddie to play Sia again, alongside Shia La Beouf in the clip for Elastic Heart while she also had a lead dancer role in videos for the Big Girl’s Cry, Cheap Thrills and The Greatest.

'I didn't know exactly who she was that well, being 11. So when I met her I was "Wow, she's so incredible". I thought I would do this one video and never see her again. But we became a dynamic duo,' she told News Corp

Maddie added that she had learnt a lot about working with Sia, admitting that the experience had instilled a creative fearlessness in the young star.

‘It has evolved so much from Chandelier. I was 11 and doing this crazy style, these crazy dances and now I understand the meaning behind all of the videos,’ she told the publication.

‘You are trying to tell a story through your facial expressions and movements and it is so emotional. I’m not as afraid now to be weird and do quirky stuff.’
