‘The last text Mum sent me was to give me some feedback on some of my advice on MAFS!’ he previously told 9Honey.

‘She’s a big fan – and loves to critique how we run a commitment ceremony!’

He described her as a survivor who was strong-willed and fiercely independent.

‘My mother raised all the boys with such grace and strength,’ John said.

‘Especially now that I’m a father of two trying to do the best I can, I truly admire her more than ever.’

Among the numerous lessons Wendy imparted to her children, John cherished one piece of advice the most.

She told him to always rely on himself when faced with adversity and to seek solutions rather than lamenting problems.

This instilled in him a sense of independence, accountability, and self-reliance.
