MAFS bride Poppy Jennings gets teary as she watches her wedding with friends at a local bar

She had an emotional breakdown on her wedding day on MAFS, saying she missed her children and didn’t feel the instant spark with her ‘husband’.

And on Monday, Poppy Jennings got teary as she re-watched her big day during a special screening of the show at her local bar.

The mother-of-two, 38, joined friends at The Icon in Wollongong, south of Sydney, for the premiere episode.

She wore her long locks out and over her shoulders, and makeup including matte foundation, winged eyeliner and a nude lip.

Poppy looked upset at one point, before livening up throughout the evening.

Her husband from the show, Luke Eglin, wasn’t there, and she wasn’t wearing a wedding ring.

During her wedding, Poppy had an emotional breakdown, saying she missed her children.

But speaking to TV Week on Monday, the brunette said she also panicked because she didn’t feel an ‘instant connection’ with her husband, FIFO worker Luke Eglin.

‘I brought all my closest friends all that way to witness my second marriage, and then there wasn’t that instant connection with Luke,’ she said.

‘I just started to panic as well about, “What am I doing here? I’ve left my kids.”‘

Poppy, a photographer from Wollongong, added that she was already having second thoughts the day before the ceremony.

‘I was by myself in this massive house near the Blue Mountains,’ she said.

‘All my guests were at a different hotel. I was on my own and I had all this time to think about it. I was actually messaging my friends saying, “I can’t do it.”‘

Despite her cold feet, she decided not to cancel the wedding because so many guests had travelled from far afield to attend.

The ceremony, which was filmed in September, was apparently so traumatic for Poppy that she ‘can barely even remember it’.

Married At First Sight’s season premiere certainly didn’t disappoint on Monday.

Just minutes after exchanging vows with Luke, Poppy broke down in tears because she desperately missed her two-year-old twin sons.

‘Initially I was okay, I don’t know. He’s really nice, you can tell he’s a really nice, genuine person. I’m just not over the fact I left my kids to do this. It’s all come on quickly, and I am really overwhelmed,’ she wept.

‘This is a lot to take in. My kids are in the back of my mind, I feel guilty. The whole experiment has come down on me and I don’t know if I can do this.’

The pair then awkwardly posed for wedding photos, as Poppy grew impatient with Luke’s attempts to comfort her.

‘I’m trying to be positive? I don’t know what to do. Hopefully by the end of the night, if I give her some time, her real self will come out,’ Luke said afterwards.

As the newlyweds sat together at their reception, Poppy suddenly stood up and ran off without saying a word, leaving her ‘husband’ hurt and confused.

‘I get that she’s got things going on, it is overwhelming, but I don’t know how to take it. I know she doesn’t mean it, but it’s pretty hurtful. This is a trainwreck,’ said the father-of-two from Melbourne.

Despite her frosty demeanour earlier in the day, she thanked him for ‘putting [her] mind at ease’ and said she had overreacted because she wasn’t used to having supportive men in her life.

The couple then put their differences aside, but it remains to be seen whether Poppy’s homesickness will continue to be an issue on their honeymoon.

Married At First Sight continues Tuesday at 7:30pm on Channel Nine
