MAFS: Davina Rankin shows off new chest after having implants removed

Married At First Sight’s Davina Rankin has revealed what she really thinks about her new chest, after having her 12-year-old breast implants removed.

The 29-year-old underwent explant surgery last month, after suffering for years with symptoms associated with breast implant illness.

She admitted during an Instagram Q&A on Monday she was worried about removing a part of her body that once gave her so much confidence.

‘I was actually preparing myself for the worst. Before I had implants, I had like, no boobs. So I was preparing myself for, like, a concave chest, basically,’ the mother of one said.

‘And my doctor was very straightforward with me. He’s like, “It’s not really going to be pretty at all to begin with, and you might be a bit sad and a bit disappointed. They might look a bit scary, they might be lopsided.”‘

However, Davina was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of her explant surgery.

‘When I got my [surgical] drains out and got to see them for the first time… it didn’t look like I’d actually had implants!’ she said, adding: ‘I didn’t have overly saggy skin. There was no stretch marks.’

The former Zoo magazine cover girl is convinced her new breasts are actually bigger than they were before getting implants, likely due to breast feeding and age-related body changes.

She later added: ‘I actually don’t hate them. I’m going shopping today and trying on clothes and stuff, and I like my little chest. It’s like a novelty, something new. And I’m like, ‘Wow, I forgot there are so many more options out there that I can wear now that I have smaller boobs, instead of having my big D-sized boobs’,’.

However, Davina did note that her breasts do have an ‘indentation’ at the bottom because the doctor ‘had to cut out some scar tissue’, but insisted that these depressions would go away as her breasts ‘fluff out’ over time.

The reality TV bride received implants at age 18 as a way of boosting her confidence.

However, last month she revealed that the procedure had left her battling with a condition known as ‘breast implant illness’.

Breast implant illness refers to a wide range of symptoms that can develop after undergoing reconstruction or cosmetic augmentation with breast implants.

When asked by Instagram fans on Monday whether her health had improved after the explant surgery, a beaming Davina replied: ‘Yes, 150 percent. It’s only been just over a week now and I feel great!’

Davina explained that her brain fog – a common symptom of breast implant illness – was ‘completely gone’.

‘Mentally I just feel extremely clear. It’s really hard to explain. I also feel way less anxious about everything. I’ve found my energy levels are through the roof. I feel really, really clear,’ she enthused.

Davina also noted that she’s been able to breathe more deeply since her implants were removed.

Davina was featured on season five of Married at First Sight in 2018.
