MAFS stars are breaking their contracts to expose ‘trainwreck’ show

Married At First Sight is falling apart behind the scenes.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Channel Nine staffers are working around the clock to desperately try and contain things, as cast members continue to break their contracts by speaking out publicly.

‘The majority of the participants feel powerless and are sick of being silenced and told what they can and can’t say to try keep up the facade,’ said an insider.

‘Most of the storylines were completely manufactured, and they’re forced to watch their reputations get trashed by editing tricks while unable to defend themselves’.

The source added: ‘Although their contracts state they can’t do interviews or speak publicly, even on social media, without Nine’s approval, nobody cares any more.

‘They all know that there will be no legal consequences and instead Nine’s publicity department will just try and bury whatever they dare to say.’

One contestant from the 2019 season, who asked to remain anonymous, said that they feel misrepresented and ‘hate’ how they’ve been edited.

Although Channel Nine has access to the participants’ Instagram accounts, most of the stars are nonetheless using the social media platform to discredit the show.

Last week, Bronson Norrish uploaded a pre-approved post urging fans to vote for the show to win a Logie Award – but changed the agreed caption at the last minute.

‘It’s a trainwreck of a show,’ wrote Bronson. ‘Exploiting people who came in it for the right reasons by manipulating their emotions and pairing them with their exact opposites for your viewing pleasure.

‘But, like all car crashes, it’s impossible to look away. I hope you enjoyed the carnage enough to vote TVWeekLogies #mafs.’

Moments later the caption was edited to: ‘Like all car crashes, it’s impossible to look away. I hope you enjoyed the carnage enough to vote TVWeekLogies.com.au’.

When it comes to Instagram, each Married At First Sight cast member is given a list of strict rules to follow.

Each post and caption must be pre-approved by Channel Nine’s social media team, and anything shared without permission will be deleted or edited.

If a cast member wishes to share something not related to the show, they must first email the post to a designated ‘MAFS Team’ email account asking permission.

Sources tell Daily Mail Australia that Nine staff have control of a contestant’s Instagram account for around two weeks after they leave the program.

On Saturday, Billy Vincent broke the rules by sharing a photo of himself mocking his ‘wife’ Susie Bradley’s cosmetically enhanced lips.

At the time, he was still technically ‘married’ to Susie on the show, as Sunday night’s commitment ceremony had yet to air.

The photo was removed by Nine’s social media administrators within the hour, but only after it had been viewed thousands of times.

Billy also shared two videos on Sunday immediately after his exit from the show, but these clips – which did not portray the producers in a positive light – were removed within minutes.

In recent weeks, disgruntled MAFS cast members have found their own ways to lash out at the show’s producers.

Many of them are using their personal Facebook accounts, which Channel Nine does not control, to get their message out.

They have also set their privacy settings to public, meaning that fans and journalists are able to see their posts.

After speaking negatively of her ‘husband’ Nic in sanctioned interviews, Cyrell Paule took to Facebook last week to reveal she had been gagged by Channel Nine.

‘I’m being banned from going live and doing any interviews… best believe I’ll find a way to bring the truth out bout my husband dearest,’ she wrote.

‘For all those people… u got one thing right. Run Nic run.’

Lauren Huntriss, who caused controversy by saying she ‘used to be a lesbian’ on the show, also took to Facebook to expose producers.

She claimed that a crew member had forced her to use the word ‘lesbian’ because her previous admission (‘I used to see women’) apparently ‘wasn’t dramatic enough’.

She later told The Kyle and Jackie O Show in an unsanctioned interview: ‘They will say to you, “We’ll keep you here all day until you say what we want you to say”.’

During that interview, Lauren admitted she felt ‘nervous’ to be speaking publicly without Nine’s permission, but felt she ‘deserved to say her side’.

Meanwhile, many cast members have worked out that ‘liking’ comments by fans is a subtle way to express their feelings.

By doing this, nothing appears on their profiles and Channel Nine administrators get no notification – but fans screenshot the ‘likes’ and share them.

Although Ning Surasiang is still happily ‘married’ to Mark Scrivens on the show, the mother-of-three recently ‘liked’ a comment branding him an ‘a**hole’ and ‘d**k’.

She also double-tapped another comment, which read: ‘Channel Nine is only interested in money and ratings and this will give them publicity.’
