Maggie Gyllenhaal cuts an effortlessly stylish figure in an oversized trouser suit at literary event in Germany

She’s been making her way round the awards circuit with her latest film, The Lost Daughter. 

Yet Maggie Gyllenhaal enjoyed a rare night off from promoting the flick as she attended the opening of Montblanc Haus in Hamburg – a venue to provide insights into the world of writing culture as well as into the production process of writing instruments. 

The actress, 44, looked effortlessly stylish as she attended the event on Tuesday clad in an oversized trouser suit.

She layered her taupe blouse over a black lace cami vest that peeked out beneath the plunging lapel. 

Maggie added to the glamour with a pair of patent heeled boots that boosted her modelesque frame.  

The screenwriter and director – who is also the sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 41 – completed the look by donning a slick of red lipstick that added a pop of colour.

Last month Maggie attended the 74th Annual DGA Awards with her husband Peter Sarsgaard, 51, in Beverly Hills.

She earned an Outstanding Directing – First-Time Feature Film nomination for her directorial debut The Lost Daughter, which she’d go on to win later in the night.

The well-received film, which she also produced and wrote – starring her husband alongside powerhouses including Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson – was nominated for and won a series of awards after premiering in 2021.

The Secretary actress has been making the rounds during this awards season for her feature film.

The Lost Daughter centers around a woman whose beach vacation starts to take a wicked turn when troubles of her past come back to haunt her.

It stars Sarsgaard, Oscar winner Colman, two-time Golden Globe winner Ed Harris and 50 Shades of Gray actress Johnson and is based on the novel by Elena Ferrante.

The Lost Daughter was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Adapted Screenplay for Gyllenhaal, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for Colman and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Jessie Buckley.
