A teenager who allegedly stabbed a Coles employee at a shopping centre has been charged as the 63-year-old woman fights for life in hospital.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempt to murder after the worker was stabbed inside the supermarket at 5.22pm on Monday.
Queensland Police allege the boy approached the woman before he allegedly stabbed her with a knife, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
He fled the scene before he could be detained by officers but was tackled by a member of the public and later arrested.
The 13-year-old is due to appear before Ipswich Childrens Court on Tuesday.
Police and paramedics were called to Yamanto Central in Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, following reports of an alleged stabbing inside Coles.
The 63-year-old woman was treated at the scene and rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
It is understood she remains in a critical condition on Tuesday morning.

Multiple police vehicles remained at the shopping centre on Monday night
Shocked shoppers were evacuated from the centre as police cordoned off the busy supermarket and established a large crime scene.
The 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and spent Monday night being interviewed by police.
The shopping centre later reopened but most stores had already closed for the night.
A witness shared the moment members of the public chased the boy through the centre following the alleged stabbing.
‘The next thing he was sprinting, there was like 15 people chasing after him and he was walked out in cuffs and everything… I was just shocked because he was so little,’ they told 9News on Monday.
Forensic officers were seen inside Coles taking photographs and scouring the crime scene with multiple police vehicles seen parked outside the centre.
