A cleaner is being treated for head and back injuries after being struck repetitively with a weapon in what police believe was a random attack inside a public shopping centre bathroom.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was set on inside Parabanks Shopping Centre in Salisbury, north Adelaide, about 8pm Monday, by a man not known to her.
The suspect remains on the run and has been described as a clean shaven Caucasian, and was wearing dark clothing and a beanie at the time of the attack.
There was bloodied clothing on the floor of the North Adelaide shopping centre where a female cleaner was randomly attacked about 8pm Monday
Police said the attack was not an act of sexual violence, and would not describe the assault as a ‘bashing’.
‘There is nothing to suggest they are known. So at this stage we are looking so it is a random attack,’ police said Tuesday.
‘It was a really unprovoked, very violent assault on this woman by someone not known to her.’
