Man, 20, dies in hospital after ‘being stabbed by boy, 17’ in southeast London – the capital’s 119th murder of 2019 

A 20-year-old man has died after being ‘stabbed in the chest’ in south east London.

Officers were called to reports of a fight on Barnehurst Avenue, Bexley at 2.48pm, where they found the man with a stab wound.

He was rushed to hospital in east London, but was confirmed to have died at 5.27pm.

Formal identification has yet to be conducted but his family has been informed, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection to the incident and taken into custody.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: ‘A 20-year-old man was found suffering from a stab injury to his chest. He was taken to an east London hospital, where he died at 17:27hrs.

‘His next of kin are aware. Formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.’

The death marks the 119th murder in the capital this year, after two deaths on Thursday and a spate of three killings within 24 hours in late September.

Earlier today police rushed to a butchers in Tottenham following reports of a double stabbing.

Officers and London Ambulance Service arrived at West Green Road to find two males aged 40 and 29 suffering from stab injuries, and a third male having been assaulted.

The injured men were taken to hospital but were not deemed to be in life-threatening conditions and no arrests were made.      

An investigation into the stabbing in Bexley continues.
