Man, 20, is stabbed to death at hotel in Birmingham as murder detectives arrest teenager, 19

  • Police called to the Crowne Plaza hotel in Holliday Street at 7.20pm last night
  • Despite efforts to save him the man was later pronounced dead at hospital
  • Detectives say the two men involved are thought to be known to each other 

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death at a hotel in Birmingham.

Police were called to the Crowne Plaza hotel in Holliday Street around 7.20pm last night where a 20-year-old man was found with stab injuries.

Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead at hospital.

Fast-track enquiries led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man this morning and he remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from West Midlands Police’s Homicide Unit, said: ‘A young man has tragically lost his life and our thoughts are with his family after receiving such shocking news. They have been fully updated with news of our arrest and are being supported by specialist officers.’

The parties involved are thought to be known to each other.
