A New York man who tragically fell 16 stories from a trendy Manhattan rooftop bar is said to have downed his drink before taking his fatal plunge, according to NYPD sources.

Henry Kaufman, 21, is said to have had his drink at around 9.30pm on Tuesday before jumping from Henry’s Rooftop Bar at The Roger Smith Hotel in Midtown.

CPR was performed on the Upper West Side man, who was pronounced dead upon arrival at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the New York Post reports.

The man had been living on the Upper West Side with his family until they moved to Connecticut in 2016, according to former superintendent of his building, C. Lopez.

Lopez was shocked by the news of Kaufman’s death, describing the bar as not being ‘his style.’

‘I’m surprised that he did that there,’ Lopez added. ‘He was quiet, not that he was anti-social, but from what we saw that wasn’t his scene.’

He added that Kaufman and his two siblings were respectful while they grew up in their high-rise building. The family lived their for approximately 20 years.

‘He used to play basketball with his brother, always into sports,’ Lopez said.

Kaufman was described as bookish by another worker at his former residence.

‘The kid was smart, he was like a nerd, he wasn’t hyper or nothing like that,’ handyman Victor Bruno said.

He had attended the Fordham Preparatory School.

At the bar, witnesses who saw the jump were shocked by the lack of attention directed toward the incident.

‘Nobody knew what was happening — it was just the two tables and the waiter,’ said Talia, a witness who was on a date at the bar. ‘People were just laughing and continuing to have a conversation like nothing happened!’

Kaufman was not a guest at the hotel, according to a hotel employee.

‘He sat down at the bar, ordered a drink and then just jumped,’ an employee of the hotel told The Daily News.

Talia, 48, added: ‘We were all sitting at the rooftop bar and he just ran and he jumped.’

‘I looked at the lady sitting at the first table I said: ‘he just jumped!’

47th street going west from 3rd Avenue was closed following the incident, as well as Lexington Avenue in both directions.
