A 22-year-old man who collapsed and died outside a nightclub in Durham on Boxing Day has been named as Michael Lee.  

Michael was treated by paramedics on Stockton High Street, in Stockton, Durham, at around 3.20am after an incident inside Goldies Bar.

He left the nightclub before falling ill outside and collapsing, it has been alleged.    

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed they were called the bar at around 3.14am after reports of an ‘unconscious patient’ outside. 

Michael was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton-on-Tees where he was pronounced dead.

Two men, aged 27 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of murder and have now been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Cleveland Police have said specially trained officers are continuing to support the man’s family.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: ‘Enquiries are continuing and police are asking anyone who may have been in Goldie’s Bar at around 3am, who may have witnessed the incident or may have further information, to contact them.’
