Man, 24, arrested for alleged rape of woman, 27, at hotel

  • Authorities detained a man, 24, and charge him with rape in the first degree
  • As he left the court, he told the New York Post that he was arrested ‘because I’m black’

Police are searching for two men after a 27-year-old woman claimed she was raped at The Standard Hotel in Manhattan on Sunday night.

The woman claims she met three men in the hotel bar just after midnight and went back to a hotel room where they attacked her and one of them raped her.

She managed to flee the room and make it to the lobby in the upscale hotel where she raised the alarm.

The NYPD arrested one man, Richard Desprez, 24, on charges of forcible rape on Sunday.

As he left the court, he told the New York Post that he was arrested ‘because I’m black.’

Authorities are still investigating the alleged sexual assault and are believed to be searching for the two other men who allegedly took part in the hotel room.

The rape charge has a possible 5 to 25 year sentence with a possible $5000. 

The woman, who is a tourist in New York City from Nebraska, was taken to a nearby hospital after the assault.

And in a separate incident in the Big Apple a woman walking in Harlem was grabbed by a teenage boy on the street who had his pants around his ankles and was demanding oral sex.

She fought him off and called the police who have not made any arrests.
