Man, 24, ‘threatened with a box cutter and robbed of car keys’ in dramatic Brooklyn road rage fight

A New York man overtook the wrong person on Tuesday afternoon, and it could have seen him killed.

A 24-year-old man told police the driver of a white Hyundai, who believed he’d been cut off, had threatened him with a box cutter before stealing his keys and fleeing, The New York Post reported.

Video of the incident in Brooklyn shows both men standing on the road as traffic piles up behind them, while one man appears to make a swiping motion at the other.

A 24-year-old man says he was threatened with a box knife by a man who said he was cut off in traffic

As horns are heard beeping angrily in the background, the two continue arguing, as one man continues to appear to brandish a weapon.

In less than a minute, a third man has come out of his car to try and end the argument and get traffic moving again.

As the men appear to calm down, the armed man walks over to a black car, where he quickly grabs the keys from the ignition before sprinting back to his own car.

The owner of the white car – who was earlier being threatened with the box cutter, realized what had happened and tried to chase his assailant down to retrieve the keys.

After the victim was threatened with a knife, his aggressor stole the keys to his car from out of the ignition and took off, with the 24-year-old’s arm still inside the vehicle

But when the man was in between his opponent’s car and a black van, the car took off, driving on an angle towards the van and trapping the 24-year-old.

The young man is seen rolling between the two cars before flying across multiple vehicles and into the air. His shoes are also seen flying away from him in the dramatic ending to the argument.

Miraculously, the victim was able to stand straight back up, and emergency services were called.

Police attended the scene and helped the man, who had bruising and abrasions to his hips to hospital, but were unable to find his attacker, a spokeswoman for NYPD told DailyMail.com.

The investigation is continuing.
