A man was killed when he was hit by a train just days after his ex girlfriend ‘he couldn’t live without’ was found hanged.  

The body of Adam Howarth, 29, was discovered on the tracks near Wigan North Western train station last Friday hours after his family reported him missing.

Just six days earlier his ex partner and mother of one Chloe Spencer, 27, hanged herself at a house in Wigan.

The mental health nursing assistant, who died on June 22, had posted a last selfie with two lipstick emojis on social media.

Family and friends have paid tributes to the pair, with one saying Adam ‘couldn’t live without’ Chloe.

Chloe’s sister Emma posted on Facebook: ‘My beautiful little sister. To say that we are absolutely devastated is an understatement I can’t find the words to say how much we will miss your beautiful smile. 

‘I hope you have found your peace now Chloe Spencer. Shine bright. Love you xxx.’

Above a picture of Chloe and Adam she wrote: ‘Life can be so cruel. I hope you have found each other again and your both at peace now. Just heartbreaking. XX

Chloe’s mum, Deborah, wrote: ‘No words can express my loss if she only realised how much love people had for her.’

Friend Lucy Mazza wrote: ‘Deffo Kate he obviously couldn’t live without her absolutely devastating! Xxxx. 

Another sister, Kate, wrote: ‘My beautiful sister your at peace now xx. I know they’ll be together.’ 

Adam’s Aunt Kath Lloyd, wrote on Facebook: ‘There’s no words what my family are going through right now its so tragic what happened at the weekend.

‘We just hope they’re in a better place. Adam was such a lovely caring lad and a heart of gold and well loved by everyone.  

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money for Chloe’s funeral.

A tribute on the page reads: ‘Sadly on the 22nd June 2019 we lost Chloe Spencer, a loving daughter, sister, mum, auntie , niece, cousin & a fabulous friend!

‘Chloe had one of the biggest brightest personality’s & it didn’t go unnoticed, her smile lit up any room she walked into & her silly infectious laugh!’

An inquest into Chloe’s death was opened and adjourned at Bolton Coroner’s Court. The cause of her death was recorded as hanging.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: ‘BTP officers were called to Wigan North Western station at 11.48am on Friday, June 28, after a report of a casualty on the tracks.

‘Paramedics also attended and sadly a person has since been pronounced dead.

‘Enquiries into how the person came to be at the location are ongoing.’
