Horror as man, 29, is stabbed to death ‘near bouncy castle during fun day at north London football club’ – as police launch capital’s second murder probe in just 24 hours and the 109th of 2019

  • It comes less than 24 hours after a 34-year-old man died from stab wounds

Police have launched their second murder investigation in 24 hours after a man was stabbed to death near a children’s fun fair last night.

A 29-year-old man was found with stab injuries on Houndsfield Road, Edmonton at 8.10pm yesterday.

Officers and ambulances crews attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The man’s next of kin have not yet been informed and enquiries are ongoing to establish his identity and trace his family.

The death comes less than 24 hours after a 34-year-old man died in hospital on Saturday after suffering stab wounds during an incident at a chicken shop at Grove Park in Lewisham.

And on Friday night a 14-year-old boy was found with stab wounds at a bus stop in Hanwell, South London, before he was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The 29-year-old’s death was confirmed as the 109th person to be killed in the capital so far this year, fuelling concerns that 2019 will increase on 2018’s death toll of 134 murders – including 70 stab deaths and 24 young people killed.

Police are battling against some 180 violent gangs across London which are dragging children into crime, amid more than 70 deaths this year involving a knife, and a dozen with a gun.

The Met said: ‘At this early stage, urgent inquiries are under way to establish the circumstances.’

‘Anyone who witnessed the incident in Edmonton is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 7400/14 sept.’
