Authorities are searching for a man who is suspected of shooting up an upstate New York hospital and is believed to be hiding in New York City.

Joshua Stuart, 42, is suspected of opening fire at Ellenville Regional Hospital in Ellenville, New York, on Friday at about 1am.

No injuries were reported during the shooting, New York State Police said in a Facebook post Friday, which noted that following the shooting, Stuart fled the hospital in a white Dodge Ram 1500. 

The car was later found by Department of Environmental Protection Police (DEP) in the vicinity of Cutler and Lundy Rd in Napanoch, New York.

When DEP officers confronted a ‘male subject’ near the car, the man opened fire on them, shooting off four or five shots from a semiautomatic weapon, before running into the nearby woods, according to authorities.

The hospital said that the shooting occurred in the emergency room and involved a patient, according to the NY Daily News.  

Stuart — described as being 5’8″ tall and about 155 pounds — was last seen wearing jeans, white sneakers, a hospital gown and a black coat with white stripes.

On Sunday, the NYPD tweeted that Stuart was spotted in the Sunset Park and Flatbush neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York.  

Stuart is said to be ‘in possession of a semi-automatic pistol and extremely dangerous.’

Authorities are asking anyone who has seen Stuart to contact 911 or State Police Middletown at (845) 344-5300.
