A 73-year-old man wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ shirt demanded that a bank teller give him less money during an alleged robbery in Florida. 

Sandy Hawkins was arrested on Tuesday and charged with robbery 24 hours after he allegedly stole $1,100 from a Wells Fargo branch on Sandalfoot Plaza Drive.

The incident occurred on Monday shortly after 11.30am, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. 

According to Local 10, Hawkins told the teller: ‘This is a robbery. I have a weapon.’

Hawkins then reportedly put his hand in his waistband as if motioning toward a gun. 

Police said Hawkins requested $1,100 but when the teller gave him $2,000, he demanded the bank employee to give him what  he asked for. 

According to an affidavit, Hawkins ‘told him it was too much and again demanded $1,100’.

The teller then slid $1,100 under the window and watched as Hawkins took the money and walked out of the bank, authorities said. 

Hawkins was later identified by a manager at a nearby bar from surveillance photos.

Hawkins was booked into the main Palm Beach County jail, where he is still being held on a $50,000 bond. The incident took place at this Wells Fargo

Police arrested Hawkins on Tuesday at his home where the man reportedly confessed to the crime. 

According to Local 10, Hawkins even gave detectives a bank deposit slip from his pocket with a handwritten note that read: ‘Give me $1,100. Now, No Alarms, Hope to get caught.’

Hawkins was booked into the main Palm Beach County jail, where he is still being held on a $50,000 bond.
