Man arrested after woman attacked with a knife in Aldi

A knife man who attacked a woman in an Aldi supermarket in front of terrified Christmas shoppers has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The suspect, who is aged in his 40s, was wrestled to the ground by staff after launching himself at the woman.

Emergency services were called to the store on Keighley Road in Skipton, North Yorkshire, at 3.27pm today.

He has been taken into custody for questioning.  

The victim, who is believed to be aged in her early 30s, is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

A police guard is in place at Aldi while enquiries continue.
