A murder investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found in a lay-by on a busy motorway. 

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was found on the A15 in North Lincolnshire at rush hour this morning. 

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Forensic police cordoned off an area of the A15 near the Humber Bridge, Hull, East Yorkshire, this morning. 

Humberside Police said in a statement: ‘A murder enquiry is underway following the discovery of the body of a woman earlier today close to the A15 southbound near the Barton slip road.

‘A cordon is in place as part of the enquiry and a 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.

‘The investigation is ongoing and formal identification of the victim has yet to take place.’

An eyewitness told the Hull Daily Mail: ‘In the first lay-by they have three police vans with blue lights on and the area taped off.

‘I also saw about three officers in white forensic suits.’
